HOMMAGE AUX TROUPES MALIENNES QUI N’ONT PAS FUI ET QUI SONT SUR LA LIGNE DE FRONT EN FACE DE CHIENS ENRAGES

Six months ago from the ashes of a divided, undisciplined and largely corrupt Malian army, Colonel-Major Dakuo created the GCV(Groupe Commando Volontaire) by recruiting the most motivated and experienced soldiers in Mali. Those who enraged by the prevailing inertia harassed their leaders to ride to Sévaré and counter-attack long before the whole North was occupied. They felt betrayed by the political leaders and the couch officers more busy playing power games in Bamako than planning military operations. The commander of the 61st regiment, Abbas Dembélé, son of a Malian officer and trained in France and the United States, especially in counter-terrorism joined the effort with his best men. Together with Daukuo’s men and others they trained far away from the regular army. The Special Forces of the GCV are an exception in the Malian army. But a model for the future, hope its initiators.

A Malian military source said on Saturday they had recovered 23 Islamist bodies from Gao, where French and Malian troops fought Islamists on the streets earlier in the week.
