The head of the UN mission in Mali, Albert Gerard Koenders ( said Bert Koenders , Ed) announces that at 9:30 p.m. ( GMT) this Friday, May 23, 2014 , a cease -fire was signed between the Government of Mali and the MNLA HCUA and MAA , said Minusma in a statement received by AFP in Dakar.
MNLA ( National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad ( MNLA Tuareg rebellion ), the High Council for the unity of Azawad ( HCUA formed by dissidents of a jihadist group) and the Arab Movement of Azawad (MAA ) are the three armed groups, including the chairman of the AU, Mauritania Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz , met representatives Friday afternoon in Kidal (far northeast ), a city under their control.
